The Happiest Place on Earth

After the holidays we definitely needed a break. Luckily, the Happiest Place on Earth is only a quick drive across the state line. We recruited our great friends, the Jacobs, to join us on our Disneyland Adventure 2009.

Let me just start off by saying that this was the best Disneyland experience I have ever had! We had so much fun, and we didn’t want it to end. The crowds were small, the weather was absolutely perfect, and our friends, the Jacobs, are the perfect traveling companions.

We rode every just about every ride in both Disneyland and California Adventure, and we rode the really good ones at least 3 or 4 times. Here we have Splash Mountain (pre splash), Indiana Jones, California Screamin, The Matterhorn, and the scream-fest that is The Tower of Terror. So much fun!

We spent a lot of time in New Orleans Square. It is definitely my favorite “land” in the park. I love everything about it. The food, the buildings, and the people watching. It’s perfect! One of the treasures of New Orleans is the Blue Bayou restaurant. We decided to treat ourselves to lunch at the Blue Bayou…right on the water. Yum!

We also found out about a most delicious treat that we had been missing out on all these years. Just across from the New Orleans Square train station is a little treasure called the Mint Julep Bar. Vanessa and I quickly became the world’s biggest fans of Disneyland’s Mint Julep. De-licious! It’s like a little sip of heaven. So refreshing! We frequented the Mint Julep Bar during our three days in the park, and I am still craving mint juleps. I recommend a mint julep around three in the afternoon, paired with a fresh churro. Mmmm…scrumptious!

So here's to Walt Disney. A thousand thank yous for creating the Happiest Place on Earth. I can't wait to go back!

Glad you had such a fun time! How long after the New Year did you go to get such decreased crowds?

We still haven't wished you HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I think Nathan left a couple voicemails!

Tower of Terror is definitely my favorite ride. The mint juleps sound tasty but if you really want a good churro you have to go to Costco. Yum!

I love Love LOVE DISNEYLAND! It's definitely The Happiest Place on Earth! I can't get enough. Seriously, just reading your post and seeing your pics just makes me happy! We are hopefully going in March or May & I can't wait! I'll have to try a mint julep for you! I love the Monte Cristo at the Blue Bayou! I get periodic cravings for those. Glad you had fun!
